Functionality

As a touring and recording musician, Gustavo needed a basic site that could later expand to contain tour dates, music samples, photo galleries and other information. The first version of the site contains a detailed biography, downloadable press kits with high quality photos and a shorter bio, and contact information.

Solution

I used Wordpress as a content-management system so it's easy for Gustavo to keep the site updated. Using Wordpress will also make it simple to add a mirror site in Portoguese in the future.

Design

Gustavo wanted a more vibrant colour scheme than the typical muted tones of a classical musician's site. Though the site is currently not much more than an online business card, Gustavo plans to expand it extensively, and so the design also had to be able to accomodate much more content if necessary.

Solution

I was fortunate to have several high-quality photographs to create the design from. I selected the site's colour scheme from a photograph of Gustavo with his cello, slices of which are incorporated into the sidebar and header. Thinking ahead, the menu is equipped with drop-down functionality, so it can expand to include a large amount of new pages.
